Rosas Del Plata, Beunos Aires, Argentina - 10th anniversary

I very affectionately recall visiting Buenos Aires in October 2016 when the new team of Rosas Del Plata had only just formed less than a year earlier. We had the opportunity to speak to several medical people, the media and breast cancer survivors. Dr Don McKenzie and I also made television appearances and conducted interviews. It was fantastic to see the team celebrate its 10th anniversary on 11/11/25.
The original founders of Rosas del Plata were Matilde Yahni, Jessica Trumper , Laura Renart , Cynthia Lizzi, Debora Teplitzki and Monica Vasquez
A famous Argentine Tango , VOLVER sang by the renowned singer CARLOS GARDEL said these wonderful words : “Volver con la frente marchita ,las nieves del tiempo platearon mi sien. Sentir, que es un soplo a la vida que 10 años no es nada….”
The translation of this is: "Return with a withered forehead, the snows of time have silvered my temples. To feel, that life is a breath, that ten years is nothing..."
Diez años no es nada pero para-Rosas del Plata , lo es todo … 10 years can be nothing, but it still can be everything. For our team , Rosas Del Plata , this 10th anniversary is the celebration of life, of love, of brightness, of endurance, of pride, and 10 years of existence paddling for life as our motto says : “Remar por la vida” , simply means “Paddle for life”.
At PALACIO LIBERTAD, formerly the Mail Central Office built in 1870, we honored four pink sisters who remain with us in spirit. Their names are inscribed on our dragons, and they felt present last night.
The founders: Matilde, Debora, Jessica, Monica, Laura and Cynthia, the small group that started paddling in boats , were given a special recognition on this momentous occasion.
The event concluded with our 70 team members (past and present) dancing joyfully and embracing each other.
An unforgettable night and an inspiration to all 26 teams in our country whose representatives were present to share the celebrations with us. Rosas del Plata is a living proof that even in the worst of conditions, when there is will, wonderful things can be achieved.
Cheers to my teammates for another 10 years of paddling in good health surrounded by the love of pink sisters.
