A New Voice in the IBCPC Family
Submitted by Floribeth Campos.
With great joy and deep pride, we are thrilled to share that, for the first time ever, a Latin American composite team was formed to participate in the Concor Pacific Dragon Boat Festival held this past June in Vancouver, Canada.
Our team, called “Latinoamérica en Rosa”, brought together courageous breast cancer survivors from across our region — a dream made possible thanks to the vision and initiative of Adriana Bartoli, who years ago began to plant the seeds of breast cancer paddling throughout Latin America:
🇵🇦 Pink Warriors from Panama
🇦🇷 Alas de Agua and some abreast deas Divas from Argentina
🇧🇷 Cano Mama from Brazil
🇨🇴 Pink Stars from Colombia
🇨🇺 Survivors from Cuba and Panama who paddle with the Empire Dragons
This union of spirit, resilience, and culture allowed us not only to compete, but also to represent all of Latin America on the international stage with strength and unity.
We were honored to race in beautiful Vancouver, the birthplace of breast cancer dragon boating. And to top off this unforgettable experience, we proudly won the gold medal in Division B!
More than the medal, it was the sense of connection, joy, and shared purpose that filled our hearts. Representing Latin America was an emotional and meaningful milestone for us. We felt embraced by the IBCPC community and celebrated the vibrant diversity that makes this movement so special.
We left Canada with unforgettable memories, new friendships, and a fire in our hearts to keep paddling—together.
We hope to reunite soon, and we look forward to seeing many of you in France—to share again the joy, strength, and sisterhood that make this global family so unique.
Regards,
