News From Germany

We have meant to inform you for many months, that Svenja Franke-Bruhn, who has been busy as National Representative for both Austria and Germany as a “lone fighter” so far, will be supported by Christina Bremer as National Representative for Germany from now on. Some of you already know Christina – and we would like to introduce her to the rest of you:

Christina was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 at the age of 34, luckily surviving the tumor as well as a liver metastasis, and continued her former life as a lawyer with different sports as hobbies – not knowing of the pink paddling opportunities until 2019. By coincidence her husband heard of a local breast cancer survivor´s dragonboat team when she took part in the Hannover Dragonboat Festival at Pentecost 2019 with a mixed team. Christina has been hooked to the sport of dragonboating ever since. She paddles with her home team, the Pink Dragonistas, also trains with mixed teams in her club in Hannover and enjoys taking part in national and international regattas.

Through her link to the European Pink Community “Go Europe”, she has taken part in the Loire paddling adventure “United Ladies” in France twice, organized a few international composite teams with other national representatives – travelling to Barcelona, Rome, Vienna and Annecy with boat crews from many different countries so far – and is looking forward to her first IBCPC festival in Aix-les-Bains in 2026.

Besides, she has qualified for the German BCS dragonboat team and is hoping to meet many of you at the World Championships in Brandenburg, Germany, in July 2025 or maybe even earlier at the Hannover Dragonboat Festival (June 7-9, 2025)!

Happy hellos from Vienna, Austria, and Hannover, Germany,
Svenja & Christina
