Here is a recap of 2022 for the Breasts Ahoy Dragon Boat Team from Saint John, NB Canada.

Breasts Ahoy has a 10/49 fundraiser that we do throughout the year, with great success, we would suggest this to all teams to do to raise money.

April/May we do poolside training at the Aquatic Centre. Boats came out of storage end of May. It was an unbelievable feeling. June through to first week of October, we paddle every Tuesday and Thursday evening.

June, we had a few paddlers participate in the Moncton Festival. June, we had paddlers join Tit Bateau to enter a composite team, along with Waves of Hope from Manitoba and Prior Chest Nuts from Ontario; to win gold in the C Division at the Concord Pacific Dragon Boat Festival in Vancouver. June, we had our annual yard sale, another great success.

July we, with Tit Bateau, participated in the Race On The River in New Glasgow, we placed 3rd in the Breast Cancer Survivor division. We invited Tit Bateau to our race area to practice with us prior to the New Glasgow race. Always nice to have another team come and practice with you in your hometown. July we, along with Women Alike A Breast A River, participated in St Andrews first Dragon Boat Festival.

August we did a team builder paddle with the employees of the City Of Saint John. We, being good sports let them beat us in a race. August we donated our original boat and equipment to the YMCA’s Glenn Carpenter Centre.

September we participated in Dartmouth’s first Fun Dragon Boat Festival. Great fun was had by all.

October, our boats came out of the water and into storage, sad day for all. October, we had our first bottle drive which was a great success and will continue to be an annual fundraiser October, we had our annual Steak N Stein which was a great success. October, we participated in “Hockey Fights Cancer” @ TD Station, our local team is the Saint John Sea Dogs.

We will continue to have monthly meetings until we are back on the water.

Next up will be our annual Christmas get together.

We look forward to 2023 as we celebrate our 20th year as a Dragon Boat Team.
